At CBC Education, our Social Skills program is getting into the Halloween spirit this October! Halloween is all about dressing up, being creative, and having some spooky fun. Our activities will give clients the chance to enjoy the season while learning how to stay safe and practice important social skills. From building awareness of their surroundings to understanding social expectations, each activity is designed to be both fun and meaningful.
We’ll also be practicing a variety of role-playing scenarios to help our clients feel prepared for Halloween. These activities give them a chance to explore what might happen and learn safe, confident ways to respond. Some of the situations we’ll cover include:
- What to do if a costume feels too scary
- How to handle it if the lights are turned off or the candy runs out
- What to do if a piece of candy looks opened or unsafe
- How to respond if someone invites them inside a house
- Options for managing fear of the dark
- How to react if a house is extra spooky and someone jumps out or makes a loud noise
Spooky Safe Streets: Halloween Tips 🎃
- Only cross at corners and crosswalks—look left, right, and left again before stepping into the street. Keep watching as you go!
- Put down phones and gadgets, keep your head up, and walk—don’t run—like a careful little ghost.
- Make eye contact with drivers before crossing, and watch for cars turning or backing up.
- Never dash into the street or sneak between parked cars—it’s trickier than it looks!
- Carry glow sticks or flashlights so you shine bright and drivers can see you.
These are just a few of the fun and educational activities our Social Skills Team will explore with clients this month. From practicing safe trick-or-treating to navigating spooky surprises, our goal is to help everyone enjoy Halloween with confidence and creativity.
Wishing all of our families a safe, fun, and Spook-tacular Halloween!
