March welcomes the arrival of spring and the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. This month, our SSTP activities are centered around the “Just My Luck” theme, with a strong focus on building flexibility and coping skills to navigate challenging times. Throughout the month, we will be practicing strategies that help clients effectively manage setbacks.
Sample Activities:
Lucky tools:
Write something that helps you feel calm when your luck runs out.
Social Awareness:
We will play a quick game of “I Spy” with a twist! Our clients will try to find as many GREEN items as they can. This activity is also great for those times kids are feeling bored.
Lucky to be me:
We will direct our clients to reflect on their character, then color the rainbow and writes adjectives describing themselves. This exercise allows the child to celebrate their unique qualities.
Floortime Program Activities
Rainbow Foam Play:
Mix dish soap, water, and watercolor/food coloring in tubs to create vibrant foam for tactile play.
Bubble Wrap Stomp:
Lay out bubble wrap for walking, jumping, or dancing to encourage sensory input.
Chalk Art Obstacle Course:
We will use sidewalk chalk to draw courses, instructing to hop, jump, or balance, promoting gross motor skills.
These are just a few of the activities we will be working on with our clients this month. We wish everyone a very happy Spring and St. Patrick’s Day!
