Our Floortime Program will be focusing on the Fall season with their theme Fall Breeze and Crunchy Leaves. Our specialists will help prepare our clients for the gradual transition from the warm Summer temperatures through Fall and into Winter. A variety of activities will be incorporated to promote discussion as well as arts and crafts for expressive creativity. Conversations will include what is observed during Fall such as the leaves changing color, incorporation of pumpkins, and the end of Daylight Saving Time (November 7th).
Our Social Skills Training Program theme is Kindness Matters.
Kindness is the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate. Kindness fosters an individual’s ability to make friends and kindness helps brighten our lives. We consider it essential that we explicitly teach empathy, kindness, and compassion to our clients.
Targeted Skills: empathy, perspective taking, friendship, initiation
A Few Sample Activities:
Kindness Tree
A Kindness Tree is a creative and beautiful way to encourage and acknowledge acts of kindness within a community. It’s a heartwarming way to help foster kind, supportive relationships amongst students and teachers. Watching the tree come to life as good deeds are added creates positive and uplifting feelings and behavior, making it a highly effective way to build character and reduce bullying.
Give A Compliment
A great way to show kindness is to give someone a compliment. The kids will use compliment coupons that we will provide or they can come up with their own compliments.
Kindness Checklist
For some, showing kindness maybe challenging simply because they do not know what exactly they can do to be kind. We will use visuals to give them specific tasks to complete throughout their week to show kindness.
We hope everyone has a wonderful September!
